I’ve done this now (took a couple of minutes), with a rebuild for good measure. Interestingly, the search results are now the same (
) but only the accent-specific search terms are highlighted. Is that intended?
Do you think it would be helpful to include that a re-index of search is necessary on the setting explainer?
I also wonder what would be the best way to make its existence more obvious to sites who focus on those countries where it would be sensible to apply the setting.

Oh ok. If that’s true then updating the description is not going to be enough either. I am not in favor of adding instructions to run rake tasks to setting descriptions in the UI because it’s not possible to run rake tasks on our hosting.
I think the approach of prompting the admin to run the full reindexing would work. We’ve used that in other situations too.
I am going to move this to Feature so it can be considered. I think Add rel nofollow to user content and spoiler enableddeserve the same treatment.
I think there’s an option to have a different description for hosted sites v self-hosted. Eg. Max image size KB
But if there’s an even better way then
It might be worth splitting this topic and having the Feature/UX request of amending the description separate from the original support ask, as I think Nathan nailed the solution in his first reply.

I see four settings that require rebake
And two which require a restart, which I don’t think is possible as a hosted customer either
The problem with that is that only the English translation is overwritten. For example, this is English:

It is unfortunate that the hosted site texts don’t get translations.
