I think some kind of visual border separation between the categories would really help the user a lot to mentally compartmentalise the different sections, rather than having them all run into one long rainbow. Something as demonstrated here:

Well, don’t be sorry. Shame I’m not a coder. Just a 15-year split-test UX marketer. The current approach feels mentally taxing — unless you’ve grown accustomed to the blend, which as a co-founder you would have. I guess I’ll get used to it. And I assume you think the current style is ‘iconic’ of the Discourse brand. Fresh eyes perspectives from new users is important feedback, however. If spacing wasn’t important… well… the web would look quite different.
