Support for pasting rich text with inline images from Google Docs / Word / Pages

Hi,
Currently, when users copy rich text with images from editors such as Google Docs, Microsoft Word, or Apple Pages and paste it into Discourse, the images are not reliably preserved. Instead, users have to manually re-upload each image, which makes the process cumbersome and breaks the editing workflow.

Is there an existing feature, component, or plugin that enables pasting rich text together with inline images directly from these editors? If not, would this be something that could be considered as a feature request for future improvements?

I am sliding this across to Feature. This is such a wide ranging request, it is not going to be easy to respond to it easily. We’ve made alot of improvements over the years already to make it possible to copy/paste things like spreadsheets and formatted text into Discourse.

Perhaps we can use this topic to collect specifc, replicable examples of copy/paste that does not work as expected?

We added support to pasting embedded images, which is what Google Docs and other authoring tools use, and it’s currently exclusive to the rich text editor.

The system triggers uploads for each embedded image and then replaces the source reference inline.

@evie_tao Can you upgrade and check if that works with your documents, please?
