'Tester' badge says it's awarded on the first bug reported, not the tenth bug

Ironically, this is the second Bug topic I’m making relating to the Bug Reporting badges.

I have just received the Tester badge. My notifications tab says so:

However, my badge page of Tester shows the following:

This corresponds with my first bug reported, not my tenth:

I believe this is not the expected behaviour?

Moving this to Site feedback , this is a custom badge that was misconfigured and now is backfilled.

This is a badge the team have been fiddling with lately, so its likely the edge case popped up due to that.

Why do you think it’s because of the backfill?

The other report is from 2023 so well before the recent backfill. As far as I remember, the tester and senior tester badges have always used the date of the first report rather than the most recent one (10th or 25th).
That’s why it looks like I got both badges on the same day.

I’m not sure this is a big enough problem to worry about, and as James wrote back in 2023 fiddling with it may cause more issues when run against historical data.

This is a quirk in the query we use here on meta but not something most people will notice or care about. It came up now for you @NateDhaliwal because of the backfilling.

Like Moin, my tester and senior tester badges show the same date. In my case it’s Aug 9, 2014. Weirdly, the earliest bug reporter badge I got is a year after that, Feb 18, 2015. :person_shrugging: Maybe that first bug topic I reported got deleted.
