Is there a plugin and/or would it be feasible to write one which allows sub-thread replies like on slack?
Say… on level of sub-threading - not quite so crazy as FB or Reddit
ideally with collapsibility?
There have been multiple topics about this.
There will be no reply-threading for discourse. I personally believe this is the right thing to do

No, this is not on any of our roadmaps at the moment. And there’s already one level of replying, e.g. you can expand and collapse replies inline via clicking or tapping on the “x replies” indicator on the bottom of a post, or the in-reply-to marker at the top of it.
You can even expand inline quotes, like the quote above. Try tapping on the title.
