Underscores in mid-text in markdown

When emphasising text with underscore shouldn’t it ignore any underscores that are in_side text?

So this whole_line should be italicised

but it is not…

You have to escape the underlines you want included \_

Or are you requesting the toolbar/keyboard shortcut to escape those automatically if the text is selected? (in which case I believe this to be a feature request)

Is that the official markdown way? If so maybe better leave it as it is. Thanks :slight_smile:
