User directory feedback

If it’s a leaderboard of sorts, shouldn’t the current user see themselves in the right position rather than automatically at the top?
If they just want the raw numbers they can see it on their own profile. If they’re checking a leaderboard, it’s because they want to see where they sit.

I like that, too, but I think it should also be mixed in with the normal sort to see where you are.

I think the “user directory” has some dissonance about what it really wants to be.

Agreed that if what’s being created is really a leaderboard and about stats, then it should be called a leaderboard and be sorted accordingly based on the data that’s there now.

If it’s truly meant as a user directory and supposed to be about about listing users, then it should instead sort differently, and feature/sort based on properties of the users (location, name, rather than their “accomplishments”.

Is the data live, or is it pulling from a cached set of data? I created a new bug topic today, but it appears to not be influencing the number of topics shown in the user directory.

My topic count there should be 14 if this is live data.

Yes it’s cached for about an hour.

Considering it’s showing the statistics it is, it’s a leaderboard but I’d imagine if you went far enough down it could be a basic directory too. Show your own stats at the top separately if you must, but it should show me in the correct place as per the sorting.

On mobile, clicking on avatar or name in user directory leads back to the directory and not to the user profile as expected. Verified on meta.

Very nice feature
Only one thing: about translations, could we make a PR or the strings will appear on transifex?

Not sure if this problem is related: https://meta.discourse.org/t/user-directory-all-time-not-correct-in-beta3-123/26682/4?u=jesselperry

So I guess we wait…

Cool. Is there anyway to add a “User” link into the TOP MENU ?

To appear on the directory you have to have actual activity in the time period. I suspect that is the problem. Just logging in isn’t enough.

Yeah that makes sense - and I think that would be great!

But in the case of my forum, there are these two random guys who show up but have not been active recently. You can see that on this screenshot and at https://forum.kabissa.org/users - they have zero activity.

I think this is a dupe of this issue, which I think I have a resolution for:

I’ve made it so if you’re logged in and viewing the user directory, you see your name up top AND in the results (unless of course you are the top result.) This makes it much easier to see where you stand:

The bright yellow is really bothering me for some reason, maybe @awesomerobot can give this a minor treatment?

I can see why clicking a name or icon would show the profile card, but as an admin I’d like to be able to click or command-click to get to a user’s profile page. Is there a place I could go click to get there quickly, from the list?

Yes, an actual URL, as other places on the site have, would be ideal.

What’s the deal with the “Visits” column? The tooltip says “Days visited”, but looking at the numbers this can’t be right.

  • For “Today” it shows 2 visits.
  • For “This week” it shows 8 visits.

Where’s the extra day coming from?

In the past 24 hours, there were likely visits from 2 different days
