User mentioned emails

I get email responses to the admin email account on a fairly regular basis from new members who don’t realise that replying to the email notification they’ve received doesn’t post on the forum.

This should be taken care of by the part of the email near the bottom telling the user to visit the topic to respond, even providing a nice button to make it stand out! I’d like to make this even clearer for new users by adding a line with some sort of “Don’t reply to this email”, perhaps at the top of the emailm but I don’t know the right way to do this.

you can customize the email templates in admin-customize-email. i think the templates you want may be the “Welcome user” and “User mentioned”.

So just add some text in there? I may have been overthinking this…

Or if you self-host your instance you could enable reply-by-email very easily.

The mail receiver sits in another docker container next to your Discourse instance. It’s incredibly straightforward for self-hosters to deploy.

Hi!

Did you find out the best solution in the end?

It’s a low priority so I haven’t done anything yet but I reckon I’ve got options that’ll work. I’m in two minds as to whether I want to enable reply-by-email.
