Should the brand name setting make the website brand appear to the right of the logo in the brand header?
The brand name will be displayed in the brand header (like the example in OP) only if the logo image is not specified. If the brand logo URL is available than the name will get replaced with the logo image.

Thanks for the clarification. I am thinking I could snaphshot the logo with the type, finess it, and then insert that as a png to get around this. We are looking to make the forum header look like the website home page where the logo appears like this:
I am currently playing with code to add the logo and brand in your theme and then I’ve used Feverbees code to get me started on the header to get the header looking like this:
If you think this is not a wise use of your theme, please don’t hesitate to let me know.
You could achieve it with some CSS edits.

I had some negative experiences using an afterheader with glitches after updates and making it work with plugins like babble. I think this could be a much cleaner user-friendly way to go about getting the look we are after. Thanks for making this.
