Is it recommended to host discourse uploads on a glusterfs client?

It’s been a while, but the last time we tried glusterfs it was a total disaster. So I’d recommend against it.

Do you have any recomendations as for a selfhosted distributed storage ?
I understand it could be a problem when it comes to hosting databases, etc. but idk why it should be a disaster for a simple file hosting. It is designed to exactly do that job.

Sure that’s what it’s designed to do, but the performance is still horrible.
That has nothing to do with Discourse specifically.

It is also a very, very complex system. With many moving parts that can go wrong.

Do you have any other recommendations? Something like gluster that I can host myself.
Just a plain old SSD is my recommendation. Ideally M.2 not SATA.
