Using Tags vs Categories for a Q/A forum

We have just setup a Discourse forum for Q/A at our company.
We have a bit confusion about using Tags vs Categories to organize the questions.

Getting design inspiration from Stack Overflow, we see that there are only tags used to categorize questions and it works pretty well.
However, Category is a core concept of Discourse and we think that we cannot ignore it.

Currently , we planned to use both Categories and Tags in our Q/A site.
Any ideas of a better design, for better maintainability and organization of the QA site?
