Will Discourse work on a non-standard port like say :5443 vs :443?

what if I install the Discourse in development? 3000 is it default port. Will it work on port 3000?
Technically Discourse will run on any port you want it to.
For self installers that follows https://github.com/discourse/discourse/blob/master/docs/INSTALL.md, we don’t provide support for custom ports aside from the defaults that we recommend.

why? makes no sense!!! When you can run HTTPD or Apache on none standard ports, why do this? I have been reading the code base, even feeding it to various AIs, still I have not found the logic of WHY! the code seems neat and clean, everything seems to be thought of beforehand…
and then BAM you are hit with this weirdness.
I am asking this because it actually bothered my programming feelings… can you enlighten me as to why make this odd self made hurdle in having this amazing bundle be really easy to setup anywhere anytime!!!
