I can see why you wouldn’t think of this until a year in, but now the problem is obvious. I just ran into a post from February 2013, but looking at the date I first thought “oh, this is super recent, how did I miss it?”
The year is already on the post date. That’s what the '13
is. Notice the apostrophe. Standard year abbreviation convention when leaving off the century.

I did not get that at all. You save so little with the '13 as opposed to the full 2013, and suddenly everyone gets it.
