Users are requesting an enhancement to the ‘Watched Words’ feature in Discourse, where flagged words should be highlighted in the post under review or explicitly listed in the moderation message. outofthebox first proposed the idea, noting that identifying the specific watched word in long or complex posts (e.g., those with code blocks) is time-consuming. OboShape echoed this, describing difficulty in tracking down flagged words during moderation. Ravindra-Trdx emphasized the challenge with over 400 watched words, stating that highlighting the offending term would save significant time. sciencewhiz and Zandr supported the request, with sciencewhiz later noting that a fix has been implemented via a pull request.
yeah, definitely a good one. as some of our community posts are quite large and can contain code blocks. and as a new to the moderation side of discourse im still learning as i go.
ive got one this morning and after reading through post a few times, still missed it on review.
had to open up the watched words and search for each of them to find where the instance of this word was flagged.
either displaying the watched word to show what was flagged, or a highlight in the review post would save on alot of time playing hide and seek to find it.
i know im a bit late to this but, did you manage to find a way to figure it out at all?
We have 400+ Watched words
It is time consuming to cross check which word has caused the post to move to moderation.
If the word is highlighted in the post - that would be of great help.
I’ll pile on to this feature request. We’re getting what appear to be a bunch of false positives, and I suspect is some substring that I’m just not seeing.
