Show download button to logged in user

hostingpeep is trying to create a forum where downloads from external links (via Backblaze) are only available to logged-in users. They want to keep the rest of the post public to avoid negatively impacting SEO. Don suggested enabling the “prevent anons from downloading files” site setting, but this may not apply as the links are external. hostingpeep clarified that the goal is to have a button that only logged-in users can click to download files, for a file-sharing forum.

Hi everyone,

I am trying to create a forum where downloads are only available to logged-in users. I couldn’t find any option in the text editor for this, so I’m asking for your help on how to implement a button that is only available to logged-in users.

My links are coming from external source (blackblaze). So it is kind of fake link protection.

I don’t want to make the entire post private for logged-in users, as this could hurt SEO. If only the button that allows users to download the content were private, it would be much easier for me to implement my forum idea.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
