The discussion revolves around issues with Brevo email not sending emails. Ziitoo installed Brevo email service, but it failed to send emails. They ran discourse-doctor, which indicated that outgoing SMTP traffic to port 587 was blocked. Brevo Team confirmed successful email delivery from their side, but Ziitoo couldn’t find the error.
Pfaffman suggested trying port 2525, as the error message indicated a possible solution for services like Mailgun or Sendgrid. Pfaffman and Ibrahim also recommended checking the firewall and VPS provider to ensure they aren’t blocking outgoing connections to port 587. Pfaffman noted that switching to port 2525 could resolve the issue without requiring assistance from the VPS provider. Interestingly, ernestdefoe reported no issues with Brevo email on their Discourse installation.
I opted for Brevo email service . Installation went well , But I am not getting emails . I do not find where the error comes .
I run discourse-doctor , and it says " connection to port 587 failed !! Problem is server has outgoing SMTP traffic blocked, if you are using service like mailgun or sengrid try using port 2525"
SMTP Server :smtp-relay.brevo.com
Port: 587
username : Login (Brevo)
password: SMTP key value (Brevo)
Checked with Brevo Team , they checked sending emails from their side and showed me the logs of successful delivery of email .
I don’t know how else to say it, but that suggests that you are unable to connect to port 587 because your VM is blocking outbound traffic to port 587. Did you try using port 2525? If not, why not? This is the next thing to try.
Have you used brevo with something other than Discourse?
