Issues with the quote system

I changes my profile name, and then the users that have quoted me, their quote from me is broken now. It just started happening when I changed my profile info.

If anyone is confused on what part I changed, I changed both my bio and the setting that is marked as “name”.

Once I did that, all quotes from me suddenly broke.

Just came across this and yeah this occurs everywhere on the forum:

It seems to have happened over a quote.

It also happens over here with different text:

Theirs issue. Admins knows about that, right?

According to About - Gimkit Creative, the only admin on that forum is someone named josh. But the only broken quote I see on that forum appends to the user Slim on that forum. Their mailing address at the bottom of https://www.gimkit.com/ is hello@gimkit.com so thats how you reach them.

Just checked, it also occurs in safe mode with themes and plugins off there, so it seems like some weird edge case core bug?

Really weird, because it hasn’t happend here or somewhere else. It still can be a bug of a plugin.

It’s now happening to me. Also a new glitch came up based off this bug. This is madness. The composer just wants to ruin my life, as it fills the entire box with twofoursixeight after twofoursixeight.
Might have something to do with the pipe symbol (|) being used in your name.

It’s not the composer. The raw of the post is actually looks like this: https://forum.creative.gimkit.com/raw/6729/1

So safe mode cannot change anything because the post is already broken. I wonder what happens when someone reverts the edit.

The Discourse version of that site is quite old (3.2.0.beta3-dev)

Is it a server side issue or client side?

I don’t think it’s ever been updated since May 2023.

Yeah I am sorry but we don’t have a repro here.

If you can reproduce on meta let us know via a flag an we can reopen.

The Discourse instance this happened on is quite old and needs an update.
