Brand Header breaks chat reply box on mobile (iOS)

On iOS chat doesn’t show the reply box, making chat useless.

Here’s the video documenting the bug:

I’m on iPhone 12 Pro Max. I’ve tried both Discourse Hub app and PWA.

Edit: changed the title for clarity.

Did you try disabling theme customizations with safe mode?

Boom, that’s the case. How do I find out what breaks the chat, which works fine in Safe Mode?

How did you add that section below the header which is also visible in chat?

It’s Branded Header theme component.

Disabling Brand Header component fixed the issue.

Solution is to disable displaying the Brand Header on mobile for now.

Thank you @Moin for reminding me of the Safe Mode in the first place.
Thank you @Lilly for adding the proper tags to this Bug report.

I was going to reply but @Moin was doing a good job of reading my mind and replying faster

I’ll get someone to have a look at this. thanks for letting us know.

I’m questioning if a brand header should appear on chat to begin with tbh. We make a distinction between forum/chat, so when you pivot to chat “mode”, it makes sense to me to not show the forum header.

I think I’ll follow that solution route for now.

Is the change reflected on meta yet?

This also happens on Meta right now because of the Job ad banner.

With the Job ad un-dismissed Chat Ui breaks on mobile and is useless.

Dismiss the job ad and the problem goes away.

Hm, you are right :slightly_frowning_face: We’re looking into a more comprehensive solution for this atm.
