The discussion starts with wenqin suggesting to add a nested comments plugin to the forum, making it easier to follow conversations and replies to specific comments. merefield agrees that it’s possible to develop such a feature and provides a link to a plugin that could be a starting point. However, after installing the plugin, wenqin encounters issues and receives a prompt about a required update. Andrew_Rowe asks for clarification on the issue, and wenqin shares a screenshot of the error message, which indicates a compatibility issue with an upcoming Discourse core change. RGJ points out that the message is a warning, not an error, and merefield suggests that wenqin could resolve the warning by submitting a PR or finding a developer to help, and recommends posting on the plugin topic for further assistance.
Could we consider adding a nested comments plugin to our forum? It would be even better if Discourse already has this feature built-in.
Take a look at the example in the image. When I see an interesting comment or one that differs from my opinion, I want to share my thoughts. Having a nested reply feature would make this so much easier. Right now, even when multiple people respond to the same comment, it’s hard to tell how many have replied because everything just appears in chronological order. This makes the whole thread very long, and I have to keep scrolling down to see all the posts. It’s not really ideal for browsing lengthy threads.
I’ve installed this plugin, but it doesn’t work as expected. It prompts me that an update is needed. However, both my forum and this plugin should be of the latest version. What should I do?
[Admin Notice] One of your themes or plugins needs updating for compatibility with upcoming Discourse core changes. (id:discourse.post-menu-widget-overrides) Identified plugin: ‘discourse-journal’
It seems that the plugin fails to take effect due to compatibility issues. This is a prompt from the forum.
