Mail-receiver lacks an official ARM-compatible image

AI-generated summary

Users are requesting an official ARM-compatible image for the mail-receiver. Canapin notes that while Discourse works well on ARM servers, the lack of an official mail-receiver image for ARM is a limitation. Matt Palmer has confirmed that supporting ARM is technically feasible and has provided an unofficial ARM64 image. schneeland and Firefishy express support for this feature, with Firefishy offering to contribute a pull request to align the mail-receiver with the ARM64 build process.

It has been mentioned a couple of times on meta, but I guess it’s better if it has its own Contribute > Feature request topic.

Discourse works great on ARM servers. I never came across any issue.
Unfortunately, running it on this architecture prevents you from using the official mail-receiver image.

From a technical perspective, I know absolutely nothing and I (confidently) rely on what Matt said in the linked topic:

Added my vote here. I think it would be really nice if the complete Discourse stack worked with ARM64.

I’d also be happy to PR the changes to align mail-receiver with the ARM64 build process used by discourse_docker/.github/workflows/push-web-only.yml at main · discourse/discourse_docker · GitHub
