The discussion revolves around setting up reply by email on a self-hosted server using POP3 polling. HenrysCat is following the guide but encounters issues finding the settings, which JammyDodger suggests can be found by going to ‘All Site Settings’ and using the filter box. Moin points out that the settings might not be in an admin area and provides a link to the site settings YAML file. After locating the settings, HenrysCat asks about the config/site_settings.yml file, but JammyDodger advises that it’s not necessary to modify it. HenrysCat then encounters an error when applying the settings, which Moin suggests might be due to not enabling POP3 polling enabled before reply_by_email_enabled. After some troubleshooting, HenrysCat discovers that the setup only works with port995 and eventually gets it working with the help of the community, as noted in the final post.
I think the easiest way to find them may be going to ‘All Site Settings’ and then pasting them into the filter box at the top to pull them up that way.
I think you get a more generic error if the details aren’t right when it tries to do a test run? It might be worth double-checking you have entered all the correct details.
For the other reliant settings, you get a much more descriptive hint if you try and enable one ‘out of order’.
No, can’t enable it just get Sorry, an error has occured, if I try to enable Reply by email first I get the in the screenshot, if I try the other way round same thing.
Making progress now, only seems to work with port 995, just trying to get my head around the Reply by email address, does this have to different from the notification address?
