POP3 polling settings

Trying to setup reply by email on a self hosted server useing this guide,

step 5 Visit the Discourse settings and check the Email tab, I assume Admin > Emal > Email Settings

step 6 Change the following settings:

Where are these settings? I can’t find them anywhere, probably missing something really obvious here but I just can’t see where these settings are.

Thanks

I don’t think I can see them on that page either.

I think the easiest way to find them may be going to ‘All Site Settings’ and then pasting them into the filter box at the top to pull them up that way. :crossed_fingers:

I think they aren’t added to an admin area

Ah, I see. I think the guide is referring to the email tab within ‘all site settings’ rather than the email settings page.

OK cool, next silly question, where will I find the config/site_settings.yml file?

I don’t think you need to do anything with that?

Are you still looking for the settings?

YourSite/admin/site_settings/category/email

Just going round in a circle now

So enabling POP3 polling enabled was finally successful? I think you need to enable that before enabling reply_by_email_enabled.

The generic_error message isn’t very helpful. Is there something more helpful in /logs?

I think you get a more generic error if the details aren’t right when it tries to do a test run? It might be worth double-checking you have entered all the correct details.

For the other reliant settings, you get a much more descriptive hint if you try and enable one ‘out of order’.

There is a special text for authentication failed, I wonder why that isn’t shown

@HenrysCat is there anything in /logs?

Making progress now, only seems to work with port 995, just trying to get my head around the Reply by email address, does this have to different from the notification address?
