Hey guys, just curious if there was any roadmap item to make a fully fledged and polished Discourse phone app experience. Currently it appears to act as just a browser portal, which is functional for sure. I was curious as to whether or not you plan to develop a truly stand-alone Discourse phone app maybe even with some unique features to those platforms. Not sure exactly what unique features would be opened up but food for thought I guess.
There are no plans to do so at this time.
Developing native apps would require us to write (at least) 3 different products: Discourse for web, Discourse for iOS, and Discourse for Android. We prefer to focus on making Discourse the best it can be on all platforms, instead of making OS specific apps.

The only significant benefit of the app at this stage is notifications for iOS devices.
