Add category badge to parent category on categories page

I have observed that in my forum users only publish in the subcategories, for example in the image, The music category is missing the square and the letters have another color, it does not seem like a link,

One way I think I could fix it:
The music category has the following link /c/musica/89
I could create a subcategory called Music, General, or All. That when they click send to following link /c/musica/89
