Add onebox support for Mega.nz .mp4/.mkv files

Would be Great if you/we can Play the video directly on the community.

Try this theme-component

Using this component was able to add support for Rumble, Odyssey and a few other sites for video.

Tried your link but it doesn’t open for me.

Link wasn’t opening due to restrictions on the wifi network was on. Switched to mobile inet and opened fine. Will test the iframe component.

Next post(in link above) details me using the theme component above.

Im Just a user of brave community, i cannot test anything for now, Hoping a fix which would be automatic or Exact component details which needs to be installed.

Unfortunately no luck with Mega.

The iframe component will work with a variety of video stream platforms.

This is from the iframe component. The 3 with yes are video platforms it works with.

Mega though is a file hosting service. Didn’t see an option to embed a post.

Out of the box discourse also supports Twitch, Tiktok, YouTube, cameo and maybe a couple of others.

Perhaps because those are streaming services, not file hostings?

That’s my thoughts as well. Mega gives an option to play th file on their site/app much like Google drive. So no embeddable player.

The iframe component though does work for other streaming platforms that support embedding that are not directly supported in core.

brave has 8mb video limit, so if i dont want to use yt to avoid copyright, what are other options where video player will show on community…

Brave asks to use imgur but im not sure whether imgur has rate limiting…

Mega.nz wont take down videos easily.

I would try one of the following

Odysse maybe a bit more limiting.

Those listed above would need the theme-component I linked above. Installation is pretty straight forward. Just add the site domain to the component and allowed iframes site setting

Mega being more of a file hosting does not seem to have an online embeddable player.

Here is a list of alternatives to YouTube. You may need to add them via the component above

Hello

You could also use the embed code for displaying the video.

  1. Add https://mega.nz/ to allowed iframes site setting.

  2. Paste the embed code in post.

Yes, only admins can change site settings.

I tried that earlier. Couldn’t find the embed code link option on mobile.

If that works then you should be able to also use the iframe component.
