AI helper is hiding

This came back: AI helper has disappeared in composer

The icon shows, but it isn’t opening anything — not here either.

  • iPhone with latest iOS, the Hub and Safari. iPad doesn’t work either, but it nevet got any fix

I’ve reopened it and slipped your post across. :+1:

And… moved everything back here again due to it maybe not being the same thing after all.

I think it is a different issue. Sometimes the icon just does not work, but you can see it. You click “proofread” and afterwards you again see the “AI” button. I noticed this on different devices.

Also, sometimes the modal showing the changes is just blank even though there are changes. But I wasn’t able to notice a pattern, so I have no steps to reproduce.

Well, in composer I don’t get anything from icon, ever. So it is quite consistent for me :smirk:

It seemed the same to me? Or similar at least. Mine opens underneath the keyboard (iPhone/Safari). There may be more going on as well though.

Hmm. Now it’s doing something else weird. Okay, let’s all go back to the other one and let someone in the know untangle it.

That made me think, it is visible. So I thought the z-index fix would still work

You’ll be pleased to know that in our upcoming work we are going to shift the AI button likely to the composer toolbar which should help with selection issues (at least for the desktop version)

Well, tablets are desktops, kind of  And for mobiles icon-thingy works just fine.

Me happy.

Moving AI helper in toolbar is a nice solution, and the job may not be finished yet, but it is still not showing anything. iPad 10gen.

Forget it. It works just fine on Safari. And DiscourseHub I’m using is beta, so that is the reason, I reckon.

Now I tested a bit more. iPad is still the issue.

  • works on Safari
  • doesn’t work with DiscourseHub and PWA, it just blinking cursor somewhere

@keegan is working on fixing an edge case here, which was discovered on Friday. Once that is done, it will be nice to close this off :confetti_ball:

Bad news are that iPad is quite problematic everytime when something is popping up… but that is another story. Finding some solution for this would be great.

This edge case issue should be now be resolved:

@Jagster can you confirm its resolved for you on your iPad?

Sorry, I can’t.

This happends when the virtual keyboard is on.

That lonely cursor blinking is only what I get.

If I drop down the keyboard it kind of works.

And there is more stranger things going on. If I don’t remember I have to hide keyboard and first I try with keyboard and then I drop it down, the second try doesn’t show anything at all.

Safari works still.

Yes, repro here on Discourse Hub, works fine in Safari.

@keegan is getting an iPad soon so he will be able to test and sort this out.

So weird that positioning is so off in hub but works just fine in Safari @pmusaraj / @joffreyjaffeux

Spot on timing with that comment  I was just starting fight with possible conflicts between plugins (it would be easier in such rare cases if the Hub could go in safe mode; is it even possible )

Let’s give it a try… Yeah, it works indeed  You guys are real pros!

I don’t know… perhaps Apple should never have started selling iPads. Considering the relatively small market share that iPads have and the fact that quite few people use them, i.e., with Discourse, it would be disproportionately labor-intensive (that’s right, AI helped me with that expression :joy:)
