When using a group flair icon on avatars, the flair icon itself isn’t clickable.
For example, search for a post by @sam like this https://meta.discourse.org/search?q=%40sam%20order%3Alatest e.g. https://meta.discourse.org/t/dropping-ios-15-other-old-browsers-in-may-2025/358131/51.
If you click on the Discourse flair on Sam’s avatar, nothing happens. Even if you navigate to https://meta.discourse.org/u/sam/summary and click the Discourse logo there, nothing happens.
If you hover your mouse over the flair, you can see a tool tip containing the name of the group that defined the flair, but it requires a real Discourse expert to understand that the tooltip “team” means “This person is a member of the “team” group on Discourse; I can learn more about it by typing in https://meta.discourse.org/g/team in my browser.”
There’s no way to even access the tool tip on devices that don’t support mouse hovering, especially touchscreens.
I think for the small avatar icons on posts, clicking on the flair should just pop up the “profile card,” the same as clicking on any other part of the avatar. The profile card should explain what the flair means, with a clickable link to the group that defined the flair.
