When I edit the category image, you can click the stretch icon to view it and optionally download it. However, I am unable to to do this as it is covered by the edit category box and once closed out of the box, it closes out of the view.

Thanks for reporting this, it was an issue where the z-index of the modal was higher than the z-index of the image lightbox… so the image was behind the modal (and impossible to access).
I fixed it here.
