Category configuration option : mirrors a mailing list

I have added an email address to a category but I can not find how to use the option “mailing list mode” “Category mirrors a mailing list”:

I could not find the answer on meta (I have found contradictory information search query : category mailing list mode).

What will change with or without this option ?

The setting name in English is “Category mirrors a mailing list.” You can find documentation about it here: Creating a read-only mailing list mirror.

If you are just wanting to allow users to be able to reply to the topic via email, have a look at this topic instead: Start a New Topic via Email ✉.
