It seems that a group being assigned as category moderators doesn’t show up on that group’s Permissions tab. I’d expect it would show up here:

I just encountered this and was surprised by not being able to see here which categories the group can moderate, instead needing to iterate through categories and look at their In addition to staff, content in this category can also be reviewed by setting.

Do you have access to the data explorer plugin? I queried the category_moderation_groups table to find the information when I needed it.

Data Explorer is preinstalled now so it would be trivial to enable. That seems like a straightforward option but could conceivably not be appropriate for less technical admin in a community.
