Category/sub category only with topic with certain tag(s)?

I have a category “Music” where I post topics and as an admin I’m the only one who can use the tag “Tiago”, for example.
Is it possible to create another category with the name “Music” (or any other name, that’s not the issue), where it only loads topics with the “Tiago” tag?

Basically I want to create topics where all members create them, but then I want to offer a place where they can find some specific topics that I started.

I’m aware of the tags page, but I wanted something that allows me to use the banner the same way I can with a category, or using an image at the top.

If not with tags, is there a way to achieve something similar? I just don’t to double post.

No, that’s not possible.

You can have a banner for a tag page. For example, Bug email : https://meta.discourse.org/tags/c/bug/1/email

You can probably customize it with CSS to make it similar to the category banner.

A subcategory in which only you have permission to create new topics?

I was just trying that, actually.
So for example if I have a parent category “Music” and a sub category “Reggae” and I post in “Reggae”, the “Music” feed will also show all posts from its sub-category/categories, in this case what I posted in “Reggae”?

Where can I find more info about this?
Would I be able to also add a description? An image?
I’m still doing my research when it comes to tags.

I’m confused about the URL you shared…
For example if I have a tag “tiago” my url shows /tag/tiago, but the url you shared shows tags/c/bug/1/email…?

Absolutely, yes.
See Documentation - Discourse Meta for an example, as it has many subcategories.

Here:

I selected the email in the tag selector from the Bug category, so it updates the URL to filter email in Bug.

If you select email from /latest, the URL will be updated to https://meta.discourse.org/tag/email.

That’s awesome and probably the thing I actually need, because then I can have the box for the sub category!

Thanks for the link to the tag banner. Will definitely install that as well.

I need to go and test it myself to fully understand how that works.

Thank you so much for your continuous and extremely helpful replies, especially on the beginning of my journey with Discourse, which I’m loving so far. I’m glad I decided to go the self-hosted route. I was a bit afraid of all the extra work, but it’s definitely worth it!
