Changing a Topic to a moderated category fails

When one of my TL1 users attempts to move a topic that they authored into a category which requires Moderator approval for any posts, they get this message:

This is not very helpful!

These alternatives would be better:

  1. A more enlightening error message was given
  2. The category which requires moderation is not shown in the list
  3. The Topic is placed in the approvals queue for the move

I think the best place to start is (2) let’s hide it from the selector for now.

You are not permitted to view the requested resource. It is precious, and long coveted by the staff. You will never view it again! Mwhahahaha!

I have noticed all throughout Discourse there are all of these random error messages that should probably be replaced, they’re all pretty confusing.

You’re going to have to be more specific than that. :slight_smile: If you see any and can say exactly where they are, etc then spin up a new Contribute > UX topic and we’ll look at updating them. :+1:

We made a change which hopefully helps. The error should now say

You cannot move this topic to a category where you do not have permission to create new topics.
