Civilised mute for user groups

Now that there’s a civilised mute for individual users, how feasible is it to extend it to mute whole user groups?

Straight from civilized mute to genocide, then, eh?

I wouldn’t go that far :stuck_out_tongue:
I asked because of the bots we have at WTDWTF; some may like a way to mute them all in one go, and not have to worry about if a new bot appears.

I think they have a totally legit case there, mute all bots. But forums allowing bots is a HUGE edge case.

I guess you’d also need protections to stop people muting the TLx groups too

I feel like I should change the title of this topic to

We allow bots and they are super annoying, why do we do that?

I don’t know, stop hitting yourself!

To design this in a non oh-my-god-this-is-crazy way we would need admins to be able to set a flag on groups with “mutable”, this may be useful if you have a group of “bots” or other kind of “loud but less useful” users.

It is a bit of specific feature creep, not that I am against it, just that its very edge casey.

You know what we’re like over there

True; still, felt it better to ask and be told ‘no’ than to not ask and never know

I think its in the “i am not building this” but if there is a clean PR that adds support so admins can make a group mutable, I would be ok with it.
