Could someone help me understand the difference between the two options ?
Also, If I want to the bot to only respond
- once per user per topic OR
- only once per topic
is there a way to do that?

@Falco could you shed some light on the above? Is it even possible to control how many responses the AI bot provides on a topic? If it’s let loose it just takes over the topics with very little value and leads to users being frustrated.
First is triggered by the “topic creation”. Second is triggered for the first post in the user account.
Why don’t you leave the bot to only reply when mentioned?
I’m planning a support reply to be continued by humans, for beginners like Provide three relevant topics and general guidance if you know how to reply
.
I see something very good implemented on OpenAI with their prompts. I think they shared theirs, a couple of months ago here in Meta.
A LLM knows all the time how to reply
Yeah, it was just an example, I reckon. But I see such prompts quite often.
Users don’t know about bots and atm I get the feeling they don’t trust bots so this strategy isn’t going to work.
After seeing the interactions between users and bots I can see the potential they have to add value but I’ve also seen an equal number of run away irrelevant conversations between the bot and users which obviously erodes confidence in the forum and amongst the users.
I would like the the bot to reply automatically on each topic to start the conversation but I want to the bot the limit the maximum number of replies in a topic (either per user per topic or just per topic). This is where I see a sweet spot between a bot adding value to a conversation and not getting into a runaway endless loop.
Is there any way can I limit the number the number of replies a bot makes in a topic and if not can that feature please be added?
FYI @Falco when only the Original post only
option is enabled, the AI Bot still responds to every single post on the topic and not just the first post in the topic.
It sounds like a bug based on your comments and the description of the option. If it isn’t a bug then the description probably should be updated to reflect that it applies to all posts in the topic.
