It can also work without typing anything other than the link, but under some conditions it doesn’t. There is a Bug topic about that.

Discobot didn't recognize link in tutorial

I had the same issue on another site. I can replicate it here and at try. The problem only occurs if I only paste the link into the reply to discobot. Adding a line of text above resolves the problem and discobot detects the link. Link to my conversation with discobot
