It’s not clear that the bar on the left with emoji categories is scrollable - there should be a visual hint that there’s more, which would make discovery a lot easier.
It would be great if we could place the ‘custom emojis’ category at the top and not at the bottom - these are specific to our category (and we’d like to promote their use) but currently practically invisible.
The ‘Frequently Used’ emojis appear to be stored in the browser, not in the user account. This surprised me when I logged in on another device.
I am not sure, but maybe this works for the reaction picker too (otherwise something similar should be possible there too): Is it possible to prioritize custom emojis on the emoji selector? - #2 by awesomerobot. Though it only helps to find the icon for custom emoji more easily. It does not put them at the top in the list where you select the emoji.
This has come up a few times in the past, and actually matches what we do in Chat. We currently are working on a change to copy the post reaction popup menu to chat, which I think will then make it easier to copy the “click to react” functionality from chat to posts:
Funny @renato and I were talking about this very thing the other day, I think a setting would be a good idea “Pin custom emojis to top of reactions emoji window” or something like that.
Yeah not sure if we did this intentionally, or just because it was easier at the time to go with local storage, maybe @j.jaffeux has thoughts on this?
@chapoi do you have any thoughts/ideas on the other feedback from Bart that I’ve been talking about here?
Yeah - actually we might end up having two custom categories, one of them being more useful to the general users and one for more specific reasons. Being able to ‘pin’ just one would be great!
Yes, exactly!
Yeah, or a small ‘up/down’ icon showing up near the top or bottom when there’s hidden content in that direction?
I don’t think this would work as admins can add multiple custom groups. And some would inevitably ‘fall off’ - unless you auto-adjust the height and it could potentially become HUGE
