Displaying dates of posts - mixed formats make it hard to read

Hi,
I would like to gather some feedback about how the date of a post is displayed.
2Here’s the thing:

  • A post from the current year has its date displayed “Jun 12”.
  • A post from past years has its date displayed as “Jun '12”.

For those who haven’t spotted the difference, there’s an extra extra apostrophe in the second date - Jun '12.

Maybe it’s just me, but it took me an insane amount of time to distinguish both. And when skimming through a list of posts on an instance where dates do matter (as in discuss.emberjs.org where I noticed it), it takes a lot of time and requires extra effort to separate the readable from the outdated.

I would love to hear from the community before jumping into the code
So… what do you think?

Thanks. Couldn’t find it for some reason.

I’ll try to have a better look next time
