Edit: @tobiaseigen moved to UX because there is no bug but it is easy to make a mistake here that could be rectified with some UX improvements, described below.
A draft topic is set with a topic timer to publish at a certain date in a given category.
Yet, when the timer reaches the scheduled moment, the topic is published in the drafts category.
Expectation
A draft topic with a topic timer set to publish later in a given category should publish the topic in that category.
I donât have repro.. thought I did but then realized I forgot to specify the category to publish to. This is easy to miss when you are scheduling the publication of a draft created using the shared drafts feature vs just scheduling the recategorization of a topic which is how it used to work. If you leave the âPublish toâ field blank, it leaves it in the shared drafts folder.
A UX improvement would be to set the category automatically in the âscheduleâ topic timer if itâs a shared draft. And to provide a UI for scheduling in the composer when saving your shared draft.
Itâs also a bit awkward if you happen to be looking at the topic at the moment it is published. The âshared draftâ UI remains until you refresh the page or click away and return to the topic.
And finally, it would be a nice touch if the fact that a topic has been scheduled would be indicated in topic lists, here:
