Experiment: Collaborative content gardening hub for meta

Yes, and also because it is an opportunity to help the OP along regarding what to do if they haven’t got an answer. Write a comment to bump the post? Ask what extra info might be needed? How does the OP « escalate »? IMHO that is also a « user education » opportunity.

The experimental Solved Reminders Plugin looks very interesting & relevant here… :eyes:

There is also the solved education message

In my opinion the best nudge for selecting a solution is seeing that it happens in other topics. Just like the best way to learn about tags is seeing them being used on other topics. Or how the “No need to sign your post” edits discreetly remind the reader to comply with the guidelines

Agreed, but that takes time (months possibly), and doesn’t solve the « drive-by support request » scenario…

Oh wow, thought that was removed honestly. As I said in that post it’s kind of executed poorly but I’ll leave solved discussion to that thread I linked.

Prune obsolete topics re. About page customization

(Prompted by this answer, and along the lines of this cleanup item…)

An Aug 2024 update to the About page added features that are now explained in Understanding and customizing the About page.

This has made some topics obsolete:

These don’t seem to have any remaining value… I’d be inclined to delete, but what’s the preferred action here: add note & close? archive? delete?

(This is difficult to quote-reply properly.)

  • I added the first tag.
  • I’m unable to edit the second topic.

When I want to edit an old post of mine, I flag my post as “something else” and write my request.

But I want to do this on a post that was already edited after flagging it, so now when I flag it I’m only being offered the “It’s illegal” choice :lolsob:

Because of this, and because I don’t want to directly message mods, I’m posting here but you can delete my post after the request has been fulfilled.

This post got traction so I just want to add in it that there is a proper plugin that uses some relevant features (🖼️ Topic Gallery). And add that if the purpose is completely different from the #feature topic, the plugin also shows users’ uploads with filters and restrictions, in a browsable interface.

Or perhaps just make it a wiki?

Let me know if there’s a better way to ask for this

I had added the original post but discarded the edit because I noticed the second part and I don’t want to have to phrase that for you. I’ve made the post a wiki so that you can phrase it yourself. Once you’re done, if you would like to remove the wiki please PM me and I’ll do so :+1:

In the future, maybe you could reply to the “this post needs attention” DM to get staff eyes on it? They don’t seem to close, so you can just handle it there next time.

It’s done, thanks Pyx! :hugs:

Could the categories tag be added on Easily create Support categories using the discourse-solved plugin? Thanks.

The link here should be changed to Wiki :

Would someone be so kind as to close Group filter includes deleted posts? I have already added the fixed tag.

And also Cannot mark reply as "solution" after merger. I have put fixed on that topic.

I was about to add more topics to my post too, but since zogstrip already handled that one a new post seems better.

Quoted @mention in tertiary color using wcag color palettes
No indicator whether content translation is enabled or not
Understanding opacity in hidden revisions

I just filtered for category:bug tag:fixed status:open and found a handful more to close. (One remains open awaiting followup from nathank – I’ve messaged him.)

I’ve just enabled an automation that will set a topic timer to close 3 days after the last post, when adding the fixed tag in the Contribute > UX and Contribute > Bug categories.

That’s how I usually do it manually.

Why not immediately? => Just so someone can reply in case this fix is not working.

Let me know if you see anything going wrong with this automation!

I just added the fixed tag to a topic that was closed a while ago, and the topic was re-opened because of that. Is that supposed to happen? I think the timer will close it again, but it’s quite unexpected that adding a tag opens the topic to create a timer to close it. It adds noise to the topic itself and the topic list.

Appreciate you pointing this out. I had just noticed that topic, and was puzzled that it was reopened without a new post.

No thats definitely an unintended side-effect. Will see if I can adjust that
