Firefox spell check problem on macOS

When I am editing a post, like this one, spell checking is not working when I use Firefox on macOS.

But if I edit on my iPAD in Safari spell checking is working.

How do I get spell checking working?

Is it just this site or do you have the same problem with other sites on the internet? I’m trying to get an idea of this is a Discourse problem or a Firefox on macOS problem. Spell check is working for me using that combination: sadfasga

Hi @barryscott  welcome to Discourse Meta

hmmm . I am testing on latest firefox on MacOS and spellcheck works for me on multiple Discourse instances.

Only on discuss instances. Here, https://discussion.fedoraproject.org/ and https://discuss.python.org/ for example.

Other sites I use have spell checking.
sadfasga is not being flagged.

I’m using Firefox 131.0 (aarch64).

Given it’s not a Discourse setting I’m not sure we can help much, I’m afraid.

For what it’s worth https://discussion.fedoraproject.org/ has spell-checking for me with Firefox (on Fedora Linux, of course).

I just did a bunch of tests on this with MacOS keyboard and Firebox browser settings and it is definitely working as expected. Even with my MacOS keyboard settings auto spell check disabled, the Firefox spell check setting overrides and still detects miss-spelled words if it is enabled.

Same for me. In Fedora KDE and Windows Firefox does the spell checking.
But my mac it does not. Even built a macOS VM so I had a clean environment and no spell checking. I have raise a bug report aginst Firefox and will see if they know what is happening.
