Images in footnotes are not rendered with inline expansion:
Curiously:
- If I left-click on the image’s placeholder – in order to open the image in the current browser tab – I receive what appears to be a permissions error. (Oops! That page doesn’t exist or is private.)
- If I middle-click on the image’s placeholder – in order to open the image in a new browser tab – I can see the image.
Is this expected behaviour? I am wondering whether I should avoid using images in footnotes.
I know images in footnotes are probably a non-typical use case. Footnotes provide a convenient way to supply the reader with detailed data (in my case, graphs) without interrupting the flow of a paragraph.
