Just wondering if there’s a best practice for that?
E.g. I had shared this component
But now there’s an official one with more features, so I wont use and update mine anymore.
Would I just put a notice on the topic? Or put a tag?

You could add the end-of-life tag, which should cover it until it no longer works. 
A notice may be good too so anyone watching the topic can get a heads-up and get a chance to swop over beforehand.
