How do I set up email SMTP for non-production testing?

I’d like to install Discourse on a local test lab environment, but am stuck on setting up the email settings. I don’t have a SMTP server setup. Can I use a personal email account, or the email service of my domain hosting company (Go Daddy, 1&1, etc.)? What do you suggest?

The overall goal is to checkout some of the admin controls and get familiar with the admin UI. Maybe there is any easier way to demo that then setting up a locally instance…

The easiest way is to use something like mailgun. Or you can search the web for ways to set up a mail server, all of which are harder than setting up Discourse.
