Overview
Discourse hosted sites follow a flexible deployment schedule that balances the need for stability with the importance of keeping sites updated. This guide explains the general deployment patterns and what influences them.
Deployment frequency
Your hosted Discourse site may receive deployments at different intervals, depending on various factors:
Security updates
When security vulnerabilities are discovered:
- Sites are proactively deployed with fixes as quickly as possible (typically within hours or days)
- The deployment speed depends on the assessed impact and risk level of the vulnerability
Bug fixes
When significant bugs affecting multiple customers are identified:
- Sites receive proactive deployments with necessary fixes
- The timing depends on the severity and scope of the bug
Regular updates
Even without security issues or bugs:
- All sites receive updates at least once every 2 months
- Some sites may receive more frequent updates
- The exact timing varies based on several factors, including:
- Overall platform maintenance needs
- Installation of new plugins (Enterprise)
