I cannot create footnote inception and it makes me sad

Probably because I’ve read too much Terry Pratchett[1], I wanted to put a footnote on a comment in another footnote[2]. ( ← Try it.)

Tragically, although it appears to work in the preview:

it does not work at all on the posted post.

Does it work on https://markdown-it.github.io/ ?

It does! But that’s because Iike the preview here, that’s showing the footnotes at the bottom, not with the ... inline thing.
