If a tag has been renamed, then the tagging plugin should redirect the visitors of an old tag page to the new one (similar to the renamed topic pages)

For now a tag’s links become broken after the tag has been renamed.

Unlikely – we don’t do this for categories.

And you can manually add a link that will redirect if it’s so important. That’s possible in Admin section already.
