I’m currently learning to use many Discourse shortcuts. I wanted to react to a post with an emoji, but noticed that the only offered shortcut is l for like.
I thought that perhaps a long-press of l could open the reaction’s emoji selector instead. Like it does on a touch screen.
Currently, keeping l down triggers the corresponding command continuously, as expected (that’s what usually happens when we long-press a key in any software).
So, making a special behavior such as “long press to trigger a new function” feels awkward; I’m unsure if it can be done easily or if this kind of keyboard manipulation is even desired; my instinct tells me that keyboard interaction must follow strict guidelines, but I’m not familiar with conventions and rules on this topic ![]()
Anyway; I’d be happy to be able to react instead of like using a shortcut. ![]()
Even a new shortcut would do, if there’s room left ![]()
