Mandatory Topic Timers for all topics in a category

AI-generated summary

jonasnaue is requesting a feature to make topic timers mandatory for a specific category, intended for use by a logistics network utilizing the kanban plugin. The client believes setting timers before publishing is essential, as retroactive application is seen as too cumbersome. They are inquiring about existing solutions or the possibility of custom development (willing to pay for a plugin/component).

Heliosurge suggests exploring the Discourse Automation plugin (https://meta.discourse.org/t/discourse-automation/195773) or the Custom Wizard plugin (https://meta.discourse.org/t/custom-wizard-plugin/73345). They also point out the built-in category setting to automatically close topics after a specified period of inactivity.

Hey y’all!

I have a specific usecase where a client wants to use a category with the kanban-plugin (probably irrelevant to this discussion though) as a sort of internal way of offering and searching for transports (It’s a network of logistics companies).

We were wondering if there is a way to make it mandatory for people posting in the category to set a topic timer before the publish? That would be a pretty crucial feature for us. I know there’s the option to do it afterwards, but our client thinks this will not be used due to it being like 4 more clicks.

If it’s not possible out of the box (as I suspect), does anyone know a way I could implement this? Are there people out there who can write custom components / plugins (paid obviously)?

All the best!
