I thought I had read somewhere that uploading pictures to Discourse would strip the geolocalization information from them. I wanted to know if this is true (and possibly where I have read it), and whether this feature can be prevented. The use-case is a Discourse for mobile users walking together and sharing pictures during their travels.
That is controlled by the site setting strip image metadata. You will also need to disable composer media optimization image enabled as that also removes EXIF as a side-effect.
