Site setting for "strip image metadata"

Image metadata is a largely unknown feature. By default we strip this metadata from images on Discourse because users typically don’t need this info and unknowingly including it can lead to unintended sharing of data.

Some communities however, say, a photography-oriented community, might want to keep image data such as:

  • copyright information
  • photographic parameters as a learning exercise for others
  • processing information that gets embedded by other software
  • colorspace information
  • and other reasons…

This is now possible by toggling the “strip image metadata” site setting. :strawberry:
